Lily M. Saona
Two Oaks, Manor Road,
Rangeworthy,
Bristol BS37 7LR, U.K.
I am a native Spanish speaker born in Lima, Peru. I attended
the Sagrado
Corazón Sophianum School for girls, where I finished the
Secondary
in 1976. I have a degree BA (Hons) Language Studies from the University
of
Essex. See more details
of my experience and services.
I translate English into Spanish and Spanish to English. I
have also co-ordinated
multi-lingual projects. Currently, I'm specializing in creation and
translation
of Web pages and technical product data sheets.
My translation experience includes technical manuals from end
clients
such as Xerox, Sega Corporation, Epson, Qualcom and ViewSonic (to
mention
a few). Other assignments have included business process reengineering
slide
presentations, international corporate profiles, texts for tenders,
user
instructions for well known hardware and software (for telecoms,
education
or entertainment), training material for high-tech products, insurance
documents,
scientific research papers and journalistic articles.
Professional related interests: I was Co-ordinator for the ITI
Western
Regional Group and member of the Terminology Network (set by ITI and
University
of Surrey).
My spare time activities are: reading (Mario Vargas Llosa
fan), researching,
surfing the Web, playing tennis and cooking Peruvian, Thai and Mexican
dishes.
I occasionally play the electronic keyboard and the acoustic piano.
Director of Cycom
Ltd., a company that I run with
the help of my husband Christopher
Turner with whom
I have a lovely daughter called Marisol (born
13 January 1991). To date, it's still a challenge trying to bring her
up to
speak Spanish in a predominantly English speaking environment.
